Akatsi south: Parents and pupils of Avangor EP JHS, located in Adeheta within the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region, have expressed relief following the construction of a new classroom block. For years, the community endured an inadequate teaching and learning environment, which has now been improved thanks to the efforts of Mr. Wise Roland Horgli, the CEO of Westport Petroleum.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Horgli financed the construction of a three-unit JHS classroom block with a value exceeding Ghc 400,000. This development aims to enhance the quality of education in the area and was met with excitement from students who were visibly happy during the agency’s visit to the school.

Mr. Samuel Agbelorbu, the local Assembly Member, accompanied the news team, expressing that the timely completion of the building within a year was a long-awaited dream for the community. He recounted that the pupils previously studied in unsafe conditions, lacking proper facilities, until the new building was inaugurated in April.

Mr. Agbelorbu thanked the community elders for promptly allocating land for the project and commended Mr. Horgli’s generosity. He expressed hopes for the donor’s continued health and support for future initiatives.

During the visit, Mr. Anthony Ganyo, the Headteacher, shared optimism about increased student enrollment. Currently, the school has over 70 pupils and a teaching staff of five, including four males and one female.

However, the Ghana News Agency observed that some students, from kindergarten to Basic Six, attended classes without adequate seating and classroom space. The agency highlighted the urgency of addressing these issues to ensure student safety and improve learning conditions.
