Tegbi ashiata: Mr. Ephraim Dodzi Jumpah, the Assembly Member for Tegbi Ashiata Electoral Area in the Anloga District of the Volta Region, has issued an appeal to the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) in the Volta Region to address the deteriorating state of two key sections of the Anloga-Keta Highway.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Jumpah highlighted the hazardous conditions of the roads, which endanger motorists, commuters, emergency service providers, public transporters, motorcyclists, pedestrians, and the general public. He pinpointed Tegbi Kpota sharp curve area and Tegbi Ashiata Main Junction as the trouble spots that have been neglected, causing significant inconvenience for road users.
Mr. Jumpah noted that a previous request was made to the district’s Highway Engineer for repairs during the First Ordinary Meeting of the Third Assembly of the Second Session of the Anloga District Assembly. However, almost a month has elapsed with no action taken. He emphasized the GHA’s responsibility, as defined by Decree 298, to manage, maintain, and develop public highways in Ghana.
He urged the GHA to repair the potholes and sinkholes at the Tegbi Kpota curve and Tegbi Ashiata junction within three working weeks from July 2 to July 23, 2025. Mr. Jumpah warned that failure to meet this deadline could lead to alternative measures to ensure safety, including advising motorcyclists and pedestrians to avoid these roads.
In his communication with the GHA, Mr. Jumpah included visual evidence of the road’s condition and expressed hope for prompt action. Residents of Tegbi-Ashiata voiced their concerns to GNA, urging the government to implement necessary solutions for road safety and convenience. They cited frequent accidents, vehicle damage, and loss of life as consequences of the current road conditions, underscoring the need for the GHA’s immediate intervention.
