ADA: The Reverend Doctor Sampson Agbemabiese, a leading figure in the Assemblies of God Church in Ada, has urged President-elect John Dramani Mahama to take decisive action to stabilize Ghana’s economy and alleviate the hardships faced by its citizens. Rev. Dr. Agbemabiese emphasized the importance of learning from the previous administration’s failings, which he attributed to their poor performance and subsequent electoral defeat.
According to Ghana News Agency, Rev. Dr. Agbemabiese expressed concerns that continued economic difficulties, such as rising fuel prices and the inability of many Ghanaians to afford basic needs, could threaten the nation’s peace and stability. He stressed the need for the new leadership to be responsive to the people’s needs, noting, “When you have a father who does not listen to you but does things how he wants, how do you develop?”
Rev. Agbemabiese attributed the economic hardships to the failures of elected officials, whom he accused of misappropriating state resources. He criticized those who, despite being believers, engage in corrupt practices, stating that both religious texts condemn theft. His comments called for introspection within the Christian community, urging them to focus on salvation rather than material wealth.
He further advised religious leaders to return to core teachings and avoid preaching prosperity, which he argued could lead followers astray. Rev. Dr. Agbemabiese expressed hope for improved living conditions by 2025, contrasting the challenges faced in the previous year with a more hopeful future under President-elect Mahama’s leadership.
