Accra: Passion for Needy, a non-governmental organization, has announced the provision of educational scholarships to two students from Street Academy in Accra. This initiative, aimed at supporting brilliant but needy students, will commence from the next academic year and extend from the basic level to the university.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Chairperson of Passion for Needy, Mrs. Janet Torgbor El-Aschkar, made the announcement while presenting various items to the Academy. The donations included essential supplies such as bags of rice, boxes of canned fish, gallons of vegetable oil, boxes of tomato puree, soft drinks, bottled water, packs of toilet rolls, and powdered soap. Mrs. El-Aschkar emphasized that this gesture aims to alleviate some of the burdens on the government in supporting the needy.
The late Prophet T.B. Joshua, who founded the NGO, had directed the organization to consistently identify and support brilliant but needy students, providing them with the necessary resources to pursue their education. Mrs. El-Aschkar reiterated the organization’s commitment to complementing government efforts in poverty alleviation.
Since its establishment in 2009, Passion for Needy has been actively supporting various privately owned charitable organizations, including Teshie and Nungua Children’s Home, Christ Faith Foster Home at Frafraha, YOA Foundation, and the Islamic Research Institute at Nima.
Mr. Atta Lartey, the Founder of Street Academy, expressed gratitude to the organization for its unwavering support and assured that the donated items would be used appropriately. He also offered prayers for the continued growth and success of Passion for Needy, acknowledging the significant impact of their efforts.
