Accra: Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has extended congratulations to Africa World Airlines on their new direct flight service from Accra to Ouagadougou. The service will commence on June 3, 2025, with three weekly flights scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, Managing Director of GACL, expressed her support in a congratulatory letter to Africa World Airlines. She emphasized that as a key player in the aviation industry, GACL shares in the airline’s achievements and wishes them success on the new route. Mrs. Opare highlighted that the introduction of this direct route marks a significant development in convenience and efficiency for both business and leisure travelers. It provides passengers with more options and enhances seamless connectivity between Ghana and Ouagadougou.
Furthermore, Mrs. Opare announced that Uganda Airlines has successfully obtained all necessary permits and approvals to begin operations from Accra. She noted that the specific commencement dates and flight schedules will be communicated in due course. Uganda Airlines is set to become the 25th international airline to operate at Kotoka International Airport.
The CEO of GACL remarked that these developments signal growing confidence in Ghana’s aviation industry. They significantly contribute to efforts in positioning Ghana as the preferred aviation hub and leader in airport business within West Africa.
