Krachi East MCE Describes Procurement Officers as Wheels of MMDAs

Accra: Mr. Safo Nketia, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Krachi East Municipality, has described procurement officers as the wheels of constructive development in Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs). His analogy highlights the critical role procurement officers play in ensuring the smooth operations of MMDAs. Mr. Nketia noted that procurement officers were responsible for managing the procurement process, ensuring that goods and services were acquired efficiently and effectively. He said their work had a direct impact on the delivery of public services and the overall performance of MMDAs.



According to Ghana News Agency, the MCE made these remarks during the inaugural ceremony of the Local Government Procurement Professionals Association of Ghana (LOGPPAG) chapter in the Oti Region. Mr. Edmond Agyemang, Procurement Assistant at the Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC), said procurement professionals must handle all procurement activities in accordance with established procedures and regulations. He emphasized that thorough market research and multiple quotations were essential for fair, transparent, and efficient procurement processes. Adhering to Public Procurement Authority (PPA) requirements ensures transparency, accountability, and best value for the organization.



Madam Asana Al-hassan, Procurement Director at Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly, emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among staff members.
