Kumasi: The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) is set to organise a massive clean-up exercise on Saturday, June 21, 2025, in preparation for the visit of King Mswati III, the Head of State and King of Eswatini, to Kumasi.
According to Ghana News Agency, King Mswati III is scheduled to embark on a four-day state visit to Ghana next week. During his visit, the King will spend time in Kumasi, where he will be hosted by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. In anticipation of this significant event, the KMA is taking proactive measures to ensure the city is clean and presentable for the royal visit.
A statement released by the Assembly and shared with the Ghana News Agency outlined that all shops and commercial establishments in Kumasi would be closed on Saturday from 0600 to 1200 hours. This closure is intended to facilitate collective participation in the clean-up exercise. The initiative aims to maintain the city’s cleanliness and extend a welcoming atmosphere to honor the King of Eswatini.
The KMA has called upon the citizens of Kumasi to turn out in large numbers to participate in the exercise. ‘We invite the good people of Kumasi to join hands in making this exercise a success. Together, we can showcase our hospitality, culture, and pride in our clean city,’ the statement urged.
