Cape coast: Prof Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh, Ghana’s High Commissioner in Ottawa, Canada, has committed to fostering international partnerships between the Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) and Canadian institutions to advance the university’s mission. She has expressed specific interest in the university’s focus on renewable energy and has offered her support as the world shifts towards clean energy.
According to Ghana News Agency, Prof Edu-Buandoh made this commitment during a working visit to CCTU, aiming to promote Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) through her new role. Her visit was designed to understand the university’s needs and priorities to provide necessary assistance.
She highlighted the dedication of President John Dramani Mahama to the development of TVET education in Ghana, emphasizing her role as an ambassador to further this cause. Prof Edu-Buandoh assured that her office would collaborate with the university to ensure her efforts benefit CCTU and the Cape Coast region, particularly because of her academic background.
Prof Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, Vice Chancellor of CCTU, expressed gratitude for the High Commissioner’s visit, describing it as ‘historic’. He acknowledged her promise of support and expressed confidence in her ability to deliver.
Prof Boakye praised Prof Edu-Buandoh for her contributions to academia, notably during her time as Provost of the College of Humanities and Legal Studies at the University of Cape Coast, where she also served as Pro-Vice Chancellor. He noted that her visit signifies positive changes for the High Commission and Ghana.
