Kpando: The Nneka Leadership Forum has successfully hosted 252 students drawn from Senior High and Technical Schools, as well as recent BECE graduates, in the Kpando Municipality. The event, held at Bishop Herman College, featured a panel discussion focused on key themes including empowerment and leadership, education and career opportunities, civic responsibility, and juvenile justice.
According to Ghana News Agency, the programme underscored the need for youth empowerment and called for a thoughtful redesign of Ghana's education system to better harness the diverse talents and capabilities of students. Participants emphasized the importance of involving young people in decision-making processes that affect their lives. They also appealed to authorities to intensify public education on civic responsibilities and improve access to justice, especially in rural and underserved communities.
The event was interactive, with experienced panelists sharing personal stories and practical insights with the students. It was organized in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service, the Directorate of CTVET, the Youth Empowerment Consortium, the Ghana Youth Manifesto Coalition, the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), and the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).
The organisers extended their gratitude to Mr. Francis Dominic Kudolo, Headmaster of Bishop Herman College, as well as all collaborators and field coordinators for their support in advancing the mission of transforming lives in Africa 'one child at a time.' The Nneka Leadership Forum is committed to providing a secure and supportive platform for nurturing the leadership potential of young people and educating them on their roles as future change-makers.
Cecilia Fiaka, Executive Director of the Forum, explained that their mission is to empower students through socio-psychological development programmes and advocate for policies that impact their lives. 'Our goal is to cultivate young leaders and instill core social values, while addressing community-level challenges. We focus on mindset development, awareness creation, and advocacy,' she stated.
