This endeavor aligns with the Precision Quality Centre of Excellence established on the HTU campus, designed to provide access to contemporary equipment, expert-led workshops, and practical learning opportunities. The Centre aims to support the Precision Internship Programme, targeting youth in the Volta Region. The internship is expected to offer participants valuable work experience, career exploration opportunities, and a competitive edge in the job market.

Ms. Constance Elizabeth Swaniker, Founder and President of DTI, stated that the Precision Quality Centre of Excellence and Innovation Hub at HTU is more than just a facility. She described it as a strategic hub aimed at nurturing innovation, fostering entrepreneurship, and equipping the youth with industry-relevant skills necessary for success. Ms. Swaniker expressed confidence that this ecosystem will empower the next generation and significantly contribute to Ghana’s human capital development.

Professor Ben Q. Honyenuga, Vice-Chancellor of Ho Technical University, praised Ms. Swaniker for her support of the University. He noted that the second phase of collaboration between HTU and DTI exemplifies excellence in industry-academia relationships and serves as motivation for stakeholders.

The partnership with Ho Technical University is part of DTI’s strategy to collaborate with public sector stakeholders to achieve objectives under the ‘Transforming youth TVET livelihood under the Mastercard Young Africa Works (YAW) initiative.’ This initiative aims to train young people in essential soft skills for the workforce, enhance competency-based learning at Technical Universities, and improve the work skills of Mastercraft persons and SMEs to meet industry standards.

On April 29, 2021, DTI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ho Technical University to implement the Precision Quality curriculum and provided an ultra-modern workshop with precision hand tools. As part of the growing collaboration between DTI and HTU, the university is being positioned as a strategic focal point for fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and workforce readiness among students, interns, and informal sector actors. The university will anchor an ecosystem that integrates technical training, research, data systems, and entrepreneurial support to prepare the next generation for a rapidly evolving world of work.
