Kadjebi: Dr Sam Suraj Issaka, Kadjebi District Chief Executive (DCE) nominee has received overwhelming endorsement from 51-Assembly members present and voting. He secured 50 ‘Yes’ votes, representing 98 percent, with one ‘No’ vote, representing two percent in an election conducted and supervised by the officials of the Electoral Commission.
According to Ghana News Agency, in his acceptance speech, Dr Suraj expressed that his overwhelming endorsement was a testament to the trust and confidence the Assembly members have reposed in him. He acknowledged the enormity and challenges of the task ahead but emphasized that with collaboration, they could overcome these challenges.
Dr Suraj highlighted that improving the road networks in the district would be a priority during his tenure. His commitment to infrastructure development aims to enhance connectivity and accessibility for the residents of Kadjebi District.
Mr John Kwadwo Gyapong, the Oti Regional Minister, commended the Assembly members for confirming the president’s nominee. He stated that Dr. Suraj’s one-touch endorsement was a victory for Kadjebi District, indicating strong support and unity among local leaders.
Furthermore, Mr Yao Gomado, the Akan Constituency Member of Parliament (MP), pledged to work alongside the newly endorsed DCE for the rapid development of Kadjebi District. This collaboration between local government officials and the MP is expected to foster growth and progress in the region.
In a formal ceremony, Dr Suraj swore the Oath of Secrecy, Office, and Oath of Allegiance, which were administered by Mr. George Wellington Arhin, the Kadjebi District Magistrate. This marks the official commencement of his duties as the Kadjebi DCE, with a strong mandate from the Assembly members.
