Dormaa MCE Provides Relief Items to Support PwDs

Accra: The Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly in the Bono Region has delivered relief items worth GHC232,537 to People with Disabilities (PwDs) residing in the municipality.



According to Ghana News Agency, the relief items were distributed to 75 beneficiaries, including 34 males and 37 females. The recipients received various tools and equipment such as fufu pounding machines, hand/foot/sewing and knitting machines, spraying machines, special wheelchairs, fertilizers, hairdryers, washing bowls, mirrors, pepper grinding machines, and chest freezers.



Mr. Dominic Adomah Ameyaw, the Dormaa Central Municipal Chief Executive, encouraged the beneficiaries to utilize the machines effectively to enhance their socio-economic conditions.



Mr. Adama Yeboah, the Presiding Member of the Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly, advised PwDs in the region to register with the assembly to access government socio-economic intervention programs that cater to their specific needs.



Mr. John Kwame Adu Jack, the Member of Parliament for Dormaa Central, acknowledged the challenges faced by PwDs and other vulnerable groups. He urged the beneficiaries to use the items for income-generating activities rather than selling them, to improve their livelihoods.



Mr. Peter Kwame Amoako, Chairman of the Ghana Federation of the Disability (GFD), expressed gratitude to the assembly for their support and assured that the federation would monitor the utilization of the machines to ensure they benefit the PwDs.
