Takoradi: Mr. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, the Western Regional Minister, has called upon the security services to uphold impartiality in the forthcoming elections. He emphasized the importance of serving the nation rather than political entities or individuals during the 79th Remembrance Day Service, which paid tribute to Ex-Service Men who sacrificed in the World Wars.According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Darko-Mensah highlighted that Ghana has successfully conducted five major elections peacefully and expressed his hope for the 2024 general elections to follow suit. He urged campaigners to act responsibly and maintain decorum, stressing that misbehavior often leads to undesirable outcomes. The Minister emphasized the need for a stable society to foster rapid development rather than chaos.The 79th Remembrance Day in Takoradi saw participation from 109 men from various security services, including the Military, Fire, Police, Customs, Prisons, along with five officers and 14 veterans. The event commemorated the contributions of soldiers who risked their lives for global peace, symbolized by the Red Poppy.The ceremony was led by Flight Lieutenant Emmanuel Yaw Okyere, featuring readings from the Bible and Quran in honor of the fallen. Group Captain SK Fianya Rtd recited the Biyon verse, reflecting on the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers. Six wreaths were laid to honor the fallen heroes, representing the government, Armed Forces, Ex-Servicemen, other security services, Chiefs, and Expatriates.
