Nkawie: Ms. Shirley Kyei, Member of Parliament for Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency in the Ashanti Region, has called for a development-driven Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) to spearhead progress in the area. According to Ghana News Agency, the MP emphasized that her vision to transform the constituency can only be achieved with the support of a proactive and visionary MCE who understands the critical role of rural development.

Ms. Kyei made these remarks while addressing chiefs and residents of Nkawie during the inauguration of a homecoming fundraising committee. The committee, launched under the theme ‘Gathering Strength, Growing Together: A Homecoming for Community Development,’ aims to mobilize resources from both local and diaspora citizens until Easter next year. The funds will be used to construct new accident, emergency, and children’s wards, and to complete an ongoing maternity ward project in Nkawie.

Ms. Kyei stressed the importance of continuity in development, urging the current government to complete all ongoing projects initiated by the previous administration. She stated, “Development is a continuous process, not a partisan agenda.” Additionally, she pledged her commitment to work closely with the incoming MCE to improve infrastructure in education, health, roads, and other key sectors. She supported the initiative with a personal contribution, though the amount was undisclosed.

Mr. Wisdom Osei Boamah, the President’s nominee for MCE, also addressed the gathering, calling on all stakeholders, especially Assembly Members, to support his confirmation to honor President John Dramani Mahama’s vision and advance the Municipality’s development agenda. He also contributed an undisclosed amount to support the fundraising effort.

Nana Kofi Darko, the Krontihene of Nkawie, urged all citizens to contribute generously to the success of the project, emphasizing the collective responsibility for community development.
