Accra: Mr Shaibu Haruna, Chief Executive Officer of MobileMoney LTD, has been named CEO of the Year – Fintech at the 4th Ghana CEO Vision and Awards. The ceremony, held in Accra, recognised Mr Haruna’s exemplary leadership, innovation, and transformative contributions to Ghana’s Fintech industry.
According to Ghana News Agency, under his stewardship, MobileMoney LTD has reinforced its position as a digital finance leader, advancing financial inclusion and delivering customer-centric innovations nationwide. In his remarks, Mr Haruna expressed gratitude for the honour, describing it as a reflection of the dedication of the MobileMoney LTD and MTN Ghana teams. “We remain committed to delivering cutting-edge digital financial solutions that empower individuals, businesses, and communities across Ghana and beyond,” he stated.
He dedicated the award to MoMo customers and stakeholders whose loyalty and engagement have helped deepen financial inclusion in the country. Mr Haruna is a seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience across Africa and the Middle East, spanning FMCG, automotive, financial services, e-commerce, and telecommunications.
For the past 18 years, he has led business transformation initiatives in Ghana, Uganda, South Africa, and Saudi Arabia, with a significant portion of his career spent at MTN. He is credited with developing MTN Ghana’s acclaimed distribution model, now adopted across several MTN Group markets.
In 2022, Mr Haruna was appointed CEO of MobileMoney LTD, a subsidiary of Scancom PLC (MTN Ghana) and the market leader in digital financial services.
