Berekum: The Divisional Officer Grade Two (DOII) Deh Kwabena Mawuli, the Berekum East Municipal Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), has urged the community members to be safety conscious and prevent the outbreak of domestic fires. He said presently, the division’s only fire tender had been faulty and out of use for some months, but assured that it would soon undergo repairs.
According to Ghana News Agency, speaking in an interview at Berekum, DOII Mawuli mentioned that the division relied on the Nsoatre fire tender in the Sunyani West Municipality for emergencies. He appealed for public support towards repairing the grounded fire tender and urged the people to be wary of the way and manner they handled naked fires to avoid outbreaks.
DOII Mawuli noted that improper use of household Liquefied Petroleum Gas cylinders could trigger fire outbreaks and urged households to acquire fire extinguishers.
