North tongu: Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has disbursed scholarships totaling GHS145,000 to support students pursuing tertiary education, reinforcing his commitment to expanding access to quality education in the constituency. The scholarship fund, presented during a working visit, aims to alleviate the financial burden on deserving students enrolled in various higher learning institutions across the country.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Ablakwa said the support forms part of a broader educational intervention targeted at empowering youth through academic advancement and human capital development. “Investing in quality education will remain my priority as MP,” he emphasized, stressing that financial limitations should not hinder access to tertiary education.
During the same visit, Mr. Ablakwa commissioned a newly constructed and fully furnished Kindergarten block for the Aveyime Methodist School. The facility includes two 100-capacity classrooms, a staff office, kitchen, storeroom, washrooms, dual poly tanks, and a children’s playground. This brings the total number of Kindergarten blocks constructed under Mr. Ablakwa’s leadership to 20, underscoring his efforts to improve foundational learning infrastructure in North Tongu.
He also announced the successful completion of renovation works on 28 basic schools that suffered damage from a severe rainstorm earlier this year. The repairs were executed by local artisans mobilized under his directive to ensure minimal disruption to academic activities. Mr. Ablakwa reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring every child in the constituency has access to a safe and inclusive learning environment-from early childhood to the tertiary level.
“These projects are not just about buildings or scholarships-they are about hope, dignity, and preparing our young people for a better future,” he said. The MP’s latest interventions have been widely praised by constituents, education stakeholders, and traditional leaders, who view them as a testament to effective, community-driven leadership.
