Accra: Alhaji Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, the Minister for the Interior/National Security, has reiterated President John Dramani Mahama's commitment to retooling the state security forces to enhance their capabilities to effectively safeguard the nation. He highlighted the President's dedication to this initiative with a $1 billion package aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness, logistical capacity, and mandate, thereby strengthening national security and supporting their critical role.
According to Ghana News Agency, Alhaji Muntaka discussed the significant changes and gains made in the security sector since the current administration assumed office. He presented these insights during his Mid-Year Review Report for the Ministry of the Interior/National Security at a press conference held at the Presidency in Accra. The press conference, organized by the Presidency Communication Bureau under the theme 'The Governance Accountability Series', is part of the Government's efforts to deepen transparency and accountability in governance.
The Interior Ministry, Alhaji Muntaka noted, is eager to seize every opportunity to execute its mandate, plans, and programs to ensure peace and security for the people of Ghana. He appealed to all Ghanaians to cherish their national identity and contribute to maintaining peace and security, emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility in fostering peaceful coexistence irrespective of gender, religion, ethnic origin, or economic or social status.
