Greater Accra Peace Council Condemns Homowo Clash, Calls for Calm

Accra: The Greater Accra Regional Peace Council (GARPC) has condemned the violent incidents that marred the celebration of the Homowo Festival at Teshie and Omanjor on Saturday, calling on factions to exercise restraint. The Council urged the youth and all parties involved to remain calm and cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies to ensure that perpetrators were brought to justice.

According to Ghana News Agency, in a statement signed by Rt. Rev. Samuel Kofi Osabutey, Chairman of the GARPC, the Council congratulated the chiefs, elders, and people of the Ga State on the generally peaceful celebration of the 2025 Homowo, while expressing concern over the pockets of violence that erupted. It commended the Ghana Police Service for its swift deployment and surveillance operations to maintain law and order in the affected areas.

The Council also extended condolences to bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery. Meanwhile, the GARPC said it was engaging all relevant parties to find lasting solutions to the disputes.
