Atebubu: The Grace Asantewaa Foundation, a Non-governmental Organisation, has presented sports items to several Senior High Schools (SHS) in the Bono East Region. The beneficiary schools, including Atebubu, Amantin, and New Konkrompe SHSs, each received footballs, sets of jerseys, and soccer bibs.
According to Ghana News Agency, the foundation, established by Grace Asantewaa, a prominent member of the nation's women's national team, the Black Queens, and a player for Mexico's FC Juarez Femeni, also extended similar donations to 90 footballers. The presentation took place during a ceremony in Atebubu, where Miss Asantewaa expressed that the donation aligns with the foundation's social responsibility initiatives aimed at giving back to society.
Ms. Asantewaa, originally from Atebubu, highlighted the region's potential in sports talent. She emphasized the foundation's dedication to unearthing and nurturing these talents, with a particular focus on football. She also encouraged parents to support their daughters in developing their sporting abilities, addressing misconceptions about female footballers' health. Representatives from the recipient schools expressed their gratitude for the donations and hoped for continued support.
In addition to the sports items, Ms. Asantewaa provided undisclosed sums of money to the Atebubu Peace and Love Orphanage Home and spent time with the children there.
