Mr Titus Glover, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, says the Government will not compensate traders for the losses they incurred in the Zongo Lane fire outbreak in Accra Central.'The Government cannot take responsibility for this. This is a personal decision by those who have the property that has been destroyed. So, they have to take responsibility in their own hands but the Government cannot.' The Minister said this when he visited the Fire scene on Tuesday. He said, 'The very people who have caused this we know themselves. In other jurisdictions, they would been charged for negligence for what they have done. But for now, I do not want to take the wind out of the sail.'The Chief Fire Officer and his team are here. The focus now is on how to extinguish the fire. Mr Glover added. The fire outbreak, which started on Sunday, and lasted until Monday, destroying properties worth millions of cedis, is now under control.Meanwhile, portions of the warehouse, which was gutted by fire on Tuesday have caved in, impeding access.Source: Ghana News Agency
