Wenchi: The Ankobea Division of the Wenchi Traditional Area in the Bono Region has finally enstooled a new Ankobeahene, or divisional chief, after a prolonged dispute that lasted over 15 years. The division has chosen a 30-year-old businessman, now known by his stool name Nana Adu Mensah Akruafi III, to lead the Traditional Council.
According to Ghana News Agency, Nana Akruafi III, privately known as Mr. Prince Adu Mensah, succeeds his grandfather, Nana Akruafi II, who passed away in 2010. The enstoolment ceremony was conducted by Nana Amoakoaa Bessah III, the Ankobeahemaa of the Wenchi Traditional Council. The divisional queen led the newly enstooled chief through essential customs and traditions to formalize his new role.
During the ceremony, Nana Amoakoaa Bessah III acknowledged the cooperation of the chiefs and people of Wenchi, urging the new chief to serve diligently and with humility. Nana Akruafi III expressed his gratitude to the Ankobea Division and the Wenchi Traditional Council, stating his enstoolment took place on August 9, 2025.
The new chief emphasized his commitment to prioritizing education and youth development in the area. He pledged to focus on improving school retention rates for boys and girls to enhance the quality of education. Nana Akruafi III stressed the importance of education in building individuals' lives and called for collaboration to address barriers affecting educational growth.
In his plans for the future, Nana Akruafi III urged the Wenchi Municipal Assembly to innovate job creation strategies for the region's youth, addressing the pressing need for employment opportunities.
