Wassa West: The Wassa West District Office of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has received a significant boost from the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation (GFGF) aimed at extending healthcare services to remote communities.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Foundation has donated three laptop computers and two receipt printers valued at over GHS31,000 to the NHIA. Mr Abdel-Razak Yakubu, Executive Secretary of GFGF, stated that the donation is intended to assist the NHIA in reaching underserved areas within the Tarkwa Nsuaem and Prestea Huni-Valley Municipalities. He highlighted the difficulties faced by residents who cannot afford to travel long distances to the NHIA office for registration and expressed optimism that the Foundation's initiative would improve access to healthcare through the National Health Insurance Scheme.
Mr Yakubu further mentioned that there is an agreement with the Wassa West District to provide registration and other services during medical outreach events, with the Foundation often covering the premium costs for those who register.
Mr Francis Aduamah, District Manager of Wassa West NHIA, acknowledged the Foundation's commitment to its mandate and Corporate Social Responsibility in the healthcare sector. He expressed gratitude for the support and emphasized the positive impact of the donation on the district's registration process, which would help reduce delays and inconvenience. Mr Aduamah also noted the importance of this contribution to their goal of achieving universal health coverage by 2030, addressing previous challenges in generating receipts due to a lack of necessary equipment.
