Warehouse Keeper Faces Court Over Theft of 66 Turkish Doors

Accra: A warehouse keeper accused of stealing 66 Turkish doors valued at GHC398,700 from his employer has appeared in court. Emmanuel Asamoah, charged with stealing, has pleaded not guilty before an Accra Circuit Court presided over by Mrs. Susana Eduful. The court has granted Asamoah bail in the sum of GHC100,000 with two sureties, both of whom must be public servants earning not less than GHC3,000.

According to Ghana News Agency, the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Ebenezer Teye-Okuffo, has been directed to file disclosures by December 1, 2025. The complainant in the case is the Director of SMS Properties Ghana, residing in Spintex, Accra, while Asamoah served as the Warehouse Keeper at the company’s Cambodia, Baatsona outlet.

In 2023, Asamoah was entrusted with a variety of Turkish doors for collection to the company’s showroom. On August 26, 2025, during a routine inventory by the complainant and a witness, Dennis Dagadu, it was discovered that 66 doors were missing. These included 24 pieces of one-and-half doors, 39 internal doors, and three double external doors, all valued at GHC398,700.

The prosecution revealed that when questioned, Asamoah failed to provide a satisfactory explanation. The matter was reported to the Baatsonaa police, leading to Asamoah’s arrest. Investigations also led to the arrest of Prince Dadzie, an apprentice under Asamoah, who alleged that he was instructed by the complainant to sell some of the doors.

However, it was found that Dadzie did not control the warehouse and operated under Asamoah’s supervision. Further investigations uncovered that Asamoah had informed a witness, Isaac Osei Darko, that he was authorized to sell the doors on credit and receive installment payments. Asamoah sold 25 doors to this witness and received payments into his personal bank and Momo accounts without informing the complainant.

It was further established that Asamoah had sold the remaining 42 doors to other individuals. During the investigation, he refunded GHC20,000 towards the value of the stolen property. The case remains under investigation.
