UPSA Commissions Ultra-Modern Police Station to Boost Campus Security

Accra: The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) recently commissioned an ultra-modern police station on its campus to support the government’s efforts in fostering a secure environment for teaching, learning, and administrative activities.



According to Ghana News Agency, the facility, distinguished by its brick design, includes a case management room, male and female cells, Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU), Criminal Investigations Office, Station Officer’s office, armoury, exhibit room, kitchenette, and visitors’ washroom, among other features.



Mr. Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, the Minister of the Interior, who officiated the commissioning, urged police personnel to strengthen their efforts in creating a safer society. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the Ghana Police Service with necessary logistics and infrastructure to enhance security nationwide.



Commending UPSA’s initiative, Mr. Mubarak highlighted the collaboration between the University and the Government as a commendable step towards strengthening institutional security partnerships. He encouraged the police personnel assigned to the new station to uphold high standards and efficiently utilize the facility to benefit both the University and the surrounding communities.



Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, the Vice Chancellor of UPSA, expressed gratitude to both the immediate past and current Inspectors General of Police for their support in realizing the project. He emphasized that the University’s proactive security measures align with national priorities and its commitment to protecting students and staff.



Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Duut Tuaruka, Accra Regional Police Commander, noted that the new station would serve not only the University but also neighboring communities, bringing security services closer to them. He assured the audience of the Service’s dedication to maintaining law and order in the area.



The event was attended by members of the Police Management Board, led by Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Inspector General of Police, as well as staff and students of UPSA.
