TOUGHA Recognises GTA Deputy Director for Tourism Leadership

Accra: Mr. Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi, Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs, Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), has been honoured for his contributions to the Tour Operators Union of Ghana (TOUGHA). The honour was conferred by Mrs. Alisa Osei-Asamoah, immediate past president of TOUGHA, at a Thanksgiving Dinner marking the end of her four-year tenure. Mr. Kusi received a citation recognising his role in enhancing TOUGHA's visibility and fostering strategic partnerships.

According to Ghana News Agency, the citation highlighted how Mr. Kusi's expertise and media connections significantly amplified TOUGHA's visibility and highlighted efforts across the industry. His strategic media guidance has been pivotal in shaping positive narratives about their work. It further acknowledged Mr. Kusi's role at GTA as crucial in strengthening TOUGHA's collaboration with key institutions.

Mr. Kusi's career is marked by a blend of academic excellence, industry experience, and national service. He attended Prempeh College and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Ghana, Legon. In 2020, he completed a Master of Arts in Public Relations from the Ghana Institute of Journalism, followed by a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from Methodist University College Ghana in 2022. He also obtained a Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality Management from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa.

His contributions to Ghana's tourism sector span over a decade. From 2010 to 2014, Mr. Kusi was Board Secretary to the GTA Board and later served as Special Assistant to the late Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Charles Osei Bonsu, from 2014 to 2017. In 2018, he was appointed Deputy Head of Corporate Affairs, a role he held until early 2024 when he was promoted to Deputy Director, Domestic Marketing. Mr. Kusi, known for his Pan-African and nationalistic values, has played a significant role in key national tourism committees and programmes, promoting Ghana's tourism landscape.
