The welfare of the youth remained my target – NPP PC

Mr Mawuli Ocloo Egos, the Parliamentary aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Akatsi South Constituency has vowed to champion the welfare of the youth when given the nod in the December 7 general elections.He said it was time the good people of Akatsi South allowed him to represent them as their son and a humble servant, regardless of where they belong.Mr Ocloo made the remarks at Akatsi after filing his nomination at the Electoral Commission office as a sign of his readiness to contest in the upcoming Parliamentary contest.He pointed out that the good policies, such as the Free Senior High system that was introduced by the NPP government, must be sustained 'So we cannot entrust the next leadership of this country into the hands of Mr John Dramani Mahama who could not do what was expected in seven good years while in leadership.'Mr Ocloo reiterated the need for the people of Akatsi South and Ghana at large to maintain the NPP for the continuous and rapid show of development they needed.He e mphasised that he would champion the welfare of the youth in his constituency by ensuring they benefited from opportunities such as youth employment in all sectors and fighting for their rights, among several others.Mr Ocloo, who was accompanied by party Executives and some supporters of the party from the Akatsi Main Market amidst cheers to the EC office, would join Lawyer Bernard Ahiafor, the incumbent NDC MP for the area, and any other aspirants who would file to contest the Parliamentary seat in the general elections.His forms were successfully received by Mr Joseph Fleagbo, the EC's Returning Officer.The 47-year-old Akatsi South Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and a former Constituency Secretary, during the party's primaries last year, defeated his main contender, Mr Martin Kofitsey Nyahe with 449 votes against 184 to book his first appearance in the Parliamentary race.However, the Akatsi South Parliamentary seat has since been reserved as a safe zone f or the National Democratic Congress.Lawyer Ahiafor in the 2020 Parliamentary race, polled over 31,624 votes representing 83.71 per cent against Mr Leo Nelson Adzodogah, a former MCE for the area who gathered 5,550 votes, representing only 14.69 per cent.Lawyer Ahiafor is also expected to file before the close of filing on Friday, September 13.Source: Ghana News Agency
