Accra: The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has urged employers and employees to regularly utilize the organization's digital platforms to expedite transactions and ensure smooth compliance with statutory requirements. Stakeholders have been encouraged to stay updated with new digital tools and provide feedback as the institution works to enhance service delivery through technology.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Kwesi Afreh Biney, the Director General of SSNIT, announced during a Breakfast Meeting with employers in Accra that the company plans to launch 'a virtual branch' by the end of September 2025. He emphasized the initiative's goal of bringing services directly to users, making it more convenient for them to fulfill their statutory obligations.
Mr. Biney stated, "We are bringing services to the doorsteps of the people to make it convenient for them to pay." He highlighted the importance of the digital platforms in ensuring seamless compliance with legal requirements. The current aim is to scale these platforms to establish a virtual branch with available personnel to provide timely responses, allowing clients to fully benefit from the services.
Currently, SSNIT is disbursing monthly pensions to approximately 257,000 pensioners and remains committed to engaging stakeholders to ensure full compliance with SSNIT obligations. The forum, themed 'Strengthening Employer Compliance for a Sustainable Pension Scheme through Digital Transformation,' is part of a strategy to align stakeholders with the organization's mandate.
Mr. Alex Frimpong, CEO of the Ghana Employers Association, emphasized in an interview the necessity for SSNIT to use its digital platforms to educate employees about the benefits of SSNIT. He advocated for regular interactions to address key issues and improve compliance, noting that understanding social security's role significantly enhances compliance.
Mr. Philip Kofi Senyah, General Manager, Operations, provided statistics on the digital platforms, revealing that 76,454 Android users had downloaded the SSNIT Mobile Application, while downloads on Apple and Huawei platforms stood at 25,400 and 953, respectively. He encouraged more frequent usage of these platforms, underscoring their importance in facilitating various processes.
Mr. Senyah also announced SSNIT's plans to enhance its nationwide presence through partnerships with banks by rolling out an all-day 'full service virtual branch.' He highlighted the convenience offered by the SSNIT Mobile App, Website, and USSD Code, which enable clients to register, pay contributions, and access statements.
In conclusion, Mr. Senyah praised the collaboration with partners and reiterated the organization's openness to feedback as they continue to enhance customer experience. The forum gathered representatives from various institutions to discuss issues and address operational concerns.
