Soccer – ‘Discussions with FIFA over FTF elections continue’ (Wassef Jlaiel)

Tunis: A coordination meeting was held Friday via Zoom, bringing together the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) and representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sport, the FTF's independent electoral committee and the national appeals committee, to discuss the steps to be taken following the cancellation of the federation's elective general assembly, originally scheduled for Saturday.This was reported by interim president of the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF), Wassef Jlaiel.Speaking at the FTF's ordinary general assembly in the northern suburbs of Tunis on Saturday, Jlaiel said: "Discussions with FIFA are continuing and we are pushing for a solution that is in the interest of Tunisian football and meets its aspirations, in order to continue the work we have started.'He added that the current FTF presidency would continue to carry out its duties with a 'sense of seriousness and responsibility' until May 19 in order to provide the best possible conditions for the success of the national team, which is preparing to play two important matches in June as part of the qualifying campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.The FTF elections were cancelled on two occasions, the first on March 9 and the second on May 11, due to the rejection of the lists of candidates.Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
