SDA Church Initiates Construction of Women’s Training Centre in Sagnarigu

Sagnarigu: The North Ghana Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church has commenced the construction of a multipurpose women's training centre at Wayamba in the Sagnarigu Municipality. The initiative is part of the Church's activities commemorating its 75th Anniversary, aimed at providing skills development, vocational training, health education, and family life empowerment for women and young girls across northern Ghana.

According to Ghana News Agency, Pastor George Kossi-Ekao Amouzou, President of the North Ghana Mission of the SDA Church, emphasized during the sod-cutting ceremony that the project is envisioned as a lasting legacy to mark the Church's 75 years of service in northern Ghana. He expressed, "When you empower a woman, you uplift a household; when you strengthen women, you transform communities." Pastor Amouzou highlighted that the centre would be a beacon of hope and transformation for all women in the region.

The 75th Anniversary, celebrated under the theme: '75 Years of Mission: Advancing Faith - Transforming Communities', serves as a period for reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to the Church's mission. Pastor Amouzou expressed gratitude to the government for including private secondary schools in the Free Senior High School policy, indicating a commitment to inclusive education. He reaffirmed the Church's dedication to holistic development through its humanitarian arm, ADRA Ghana, which supports initiatives in food security, climate-smart agriculture, health care, water and sanitation, and emergency response.

Mr. Ali Adolf John, Northern Regional Minister, through a speech read on his behalf, commended the SDA Church for its significant contributions to the development of northern Ghana in education, health, and spiritual guidance. He stated that the Women's Training Centre would support the government's efforts to empower women as productive societal members and assured the Church of the Northern Regional Coordinating Council's full support.

Mr. Abdulai Imoro Gong, Sagnarigu Municipal Chief Executive, congratulated the SDA Church on its 75th Anniversary and praised its enduring partnership with the Assembly in advancing education, health, and social development. He cited the Church's contributions, including the establishment of schools, a university branch, and a hospital, as foundational to the municipality's growth.

Gulkpe-Naa Alhassan Abdulai, Paramount Chief of Gulkpegu Traditional Area, represented at the ceremony, expressed appreciation to the SDA Church for the initiative, acknowledging the Church's extensive contributions to health, education, and community interventions. He expressed confidence that the project would significantly support the empowerment of women and girls in the area.

The North Ghana Mission of the SDA Church, established in 1950, has expanded over the past 75 years into numerous congregations across the northern regions, actively engaging in education, health, agriculture, and community development.
