Rebecca Akufo-Addo Inaugurates New Basic School for Wiaboman Community.

Accra: The First Lady of Ghana, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, has officially handed over a newly constructed basic school to the residents of Wiaboman in the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, located in the Greater Accra Region. This significant development was facilitated through the efforts of her Rebecca Foundation, in response to a request made by the local chiefs and residents during her visit to the community in 2020.According to Ghana News Agency, the community leaders had appealed to Mrs. Akufo-Addo for assistance in establishing a primary school to provide easier access to basic education for their children. Prior to the construction of this school, students had to travel long distances to nearby communities such as Mamprobi, Dansoman, Glefe, or Weija, which posed safety risks, including the danger of being hit by vehicles.During the inauguration ceremony, Mrs. Akufo-Addo emphasized her commitment to ensuring that all children in the community have access to basic education, viewing it as a foundation for the ir future success. She reiterated the Rebecca Foundation's dedication to constructing schools and health facilities to improve the lives of vulnerable groups, particularly children and women.Mrs. Akufo-Addo expressed optimism that the new school would provide a strong educational foundation for the local children, highlighting the importance of primary education in paving the way for future academic achievements. Furthermore, she underscored the government's commitment to education, citing the free senior high school policy as a testament to their efforts in securing a brighter future for all Ghanaian children.She also appealed to Ghanaians to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) by voting for its flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the upcoming elections, describing him as a visionary leader and problem solver. Additionally, she urged the constituents of Weija-Gbawe to support Mr. Jerry Ahmed Shaib as the NPP parliamentary candidate due to his dedication to the area's development.Mr. Michael Danquah, the Municipal Chief Executive for Weija-Gbawe, lauded the construction of the primary school as evidence of the NPP's commitment to developmental projects. He called on the school management to maintain the building to ensure it benefits future generations.Nii Oboja Nunoo, the Jaasetse of Wiaboman, expressed gratitude on behalf of the community to the First Lady for addressing their longstanding need for a basic school. He noted that the new school represented the fulfillment of a dream for the residents.Mr. Shaib thanked the First Lady for the school and acknowledged the various developmental projects initiated under the NPP, including infrastructure improvements such as electricity, water, sea defense walls, and health facilities. He urged the community to vote in favor of the NPP on December 7 to continue the country's development trajectory.
