‘Qingdao in Its Youth: A Dialogue with the Future’ Enriches Germany-China Cultural Ties

Regensburg: Recently, ‘Qingdao in Its Youth: A Dialogue with the Future,’ hosted by the Information Office of Qingdao Municipal People’s Government, was held in Regensburg, Germany. The event aimed to enhance cultural understanding and strengthen the friendship between Qingdao and Regensburg, cities that have shared a cooperative relationship since 2009.



According to Ghana News Agency, Ms. Wang Hua, president of the Regensburg Association for Germany-China Friendship and Cultural Exchange, provided a detailed introduction to the event and its significance. She emphasized the frequent high-level exchanges and growing cooperation in various fields between the two cities and expressed hope that the event would deepen Regensburg residents’ understanding of Qingdao.



Attendees at the event were treated to the city promotional video ‘Qingdao of China,’ which showcased the city’s rich cultural heritage, economic achievements, and educational progress. The video highlighted Qingdao’s picturesque red-tiled roofs, lush greenery, stunning blue sea, and clear skies, presenting the city as an appealing modern international metropolis.



Mr. Yu Zhenghao, chairman of the Chinese Students and Scholars Association in Regensburg and a Qingdao native, shared insights into Qingdao’s culinary delights and scenic attractions, recommending local specialties like mackerel dumplings and the famed Tsingtao Beer. Additionally, Li Yijiang, a Qingdao native studying in Germany, spoke about China Movie Metropolis, a significant film-and-TV production hub in Qingdao.



Pawel, who is married to a Qingdao native, shared his personal experiences through photographs from his visits to Qingdao in 2014 and 2024. He illustrated the city’s transformation, noting the expansion of its metro network from one to eight lines over a decade, improved air quality, and enhanced community infrastructure.



Mr. K¶nig, a renowned German figure skating coach, recounted his experiences competing in China alongside the Chinese national team during the 2018 Winter Olympics. He expressed his interest in visiting Qingdao, having previously only explored Beijing and Shanghai.



The event also featured an exhibition of urban landscape photographs, providing attendees with a deeper appreciation of Qingdao’s coastal charm and character.
