PwDs Advocate Flexible, Remote Work Options Under 24-Hour Economy

Accra: The Atebubu/Amantin chapter of the Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled (GSFD) in the Bono East Region has called for flexible and remote work options for People with Disabilities (PwDs) to contribute to the government-touted 24-hour economy. Mr. Sulemana Shiabu, the Chairman of the chapter, stated that the society has 474 registered members who are prepared to contribute to the success of the government's flagship economic policy.

According to Ghana News Agency, during an interview on the sidelines of a chapter meeting held in Atebubu, Mr. Shiabu expressed satisfaction with the government's commitment to implementing the 24-hour economy in alignment with its governance system. He emphasized the need for job opportunities that align with the abilities of PwDs, enabling them to participate actively in the policy's successful implementation, thereby fostering a better society for all.

Mr. Shiabu highlighted that flexible job options could significantly address the growing unemployment rate within the PwDs community. He noted that extended hours within the policy could provide opportunities for PwDs to access services, employment, and social services, improving their quality of life.

He further explained that with more flexible and accessible services in the government's flagship 24-hour economy policy, PwDs could enjoy greater independence and autonomy.
