NDC Beach Executives in AAK Give MP Seven Days to Undo Disputed Appointments

Abura Dunkwa: Concerned branch executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese Constituency have called on Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Member of Parliament (MP), to reverse recent appointments to national security, the District Assembly, and other key institutions. The group claims these appointments disregard the constituency’s interests and warns that failure to comply may harm his chances of parliamentary re-election.

According to Ghana News Agency, the executives are demanding the reversal within seven days, cautioning that non-compliance would be seen as evidence of bias and could foment party divisions. Speaking at a press conference in Abura Dunkwa, Mr. David Dogbatse, a member of the Constituency Elections Directorate, and Mr. Emmanuel Godline Forsta, an NDC Branch Chairman, emphasized their trust in the MP to improve lives rather than create divisions.

The group further alleged that Mr. Kwakye Ofosu has disregarded his constituency’s expectations and has not aligned with his role. During the District Assembly elections, a request for four names was made, but the MP allegedly intervened to revoke appointments, claiming an inability to work with certain individuals.

Concerns were also raised over the allocation of ‘National Security’ slots. Out of ten slots, six were reportedly controlled by the MP, with three of the constituency Chairman’s nominees being replaced. This move was perceived as an attempt to suppress potential competitors.

The branch executives accused the MP of disrespecting party leadership, particularly the constituency Chairman, who played a key role in securing his seat. Allegations were made that the MP aligned with a former Constituency Chairman, whose leadership had been criticized during the previous NDC administration.

The executives warned NDC leadership at all levels about Mr. Ofosu’s actions, which they claim suppress constituency members perceived as supporters of the current Chairman. Despite winning the election, the group expressed dissatisfaction with the MP’s attempts to deny benefits from government appointments, undermining party unity and development.

The group criticized these actions as efforts to prevent certain individuals from securing positions, highlighting a failure to empower constituents. They urged party leadership to address divisiveness, noting similar issues contributed to electoral losses in 2016 and 2020.
