Accra: President John Dramani Mahama has suspended all his scheduled activities and programmes for the rest of the week, following Wednesday's national tragedy involving eight persons who died in a helicopter crash. Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Presidential Spokesman and Minister in-charge of Government Communications, conveyed this decision in a statement, announcing three days of national mourning beginning Thursday, 7 August, 2025.
According to Ghana News Agency, the statement further detailed that the Government, through Mr. Julius Debrah, the Chief of Staff at the Presidency, has directed that all flags must fly at half-mast until further notice. This directive is part of the Government's efforts to honor the memory of those who lost their lives in the tragic incident. The nation stands in solidarity with the families affected by the tragedy during this period of mourning.
