ACCRA: Parliament is set to reconvene at the Grand Arena on Monday, December 16, as announced by Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford. This session marks the commencement of the Seventh Meeting of the Fourth Session of the Eighth Parliament of Ghana.According to Ghana News Agency, the decision to summon Parliament follows a prior request by Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business, Mr. Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin. He had urged the Speaker to invoke his discretion under Orders 57(3) and 58(4) of the Standing Orders of the House to call for a two-day sitting on November 28 and 29. The agenda included 22 items classified as outstanding public or urgent government business.In response to the request, Speaker Kingsford issued a memo on November 26, stating that the House would reconvene after the December 7 general election. The intention is to address essential matters to ensure a seamless transition to the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.
