Municipal Assembly to Implement Decongestion Plan in Sunyani CBD Enclave

Sunyani: Mr Vincent Antwi Agyei, the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, has announced that the Assembly will soon initiate a decongestion exercise aimed at improving traffic flow within the Sunyani Central Business District (CBD) enclave. He addressed the media, advising traders and hawkers currently occupying the streets to relocate to the Sunyani main market to avoid being forcibly removed.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Agyei highlighted the hazards associated with exposing food items and other goods directly to sunlight, urging market women and traders to discontinue this practice. He emphasized that the growth in population and business activities does not justify the occupation of walkways by petty businesses and street vendors, noting that this practice poses safety risks.

Mr Agyei further explained that the current situation in the CBD impedes vehicular traffic flow, necessitating the decongestion to ensure order and enhance the safety of traders. The Assembly has engaged with relevant stakeholders, including market women, shop owners, and traders, to ensure a cooperative approach to the exercise. He also called on the public to support the Assembly's efforts in maintaining the cleanliness of the city.
