Bomoakpole Community Urges Government for Development at Inaugural Feast

ELLEMBELLE: The inaugural 'B'Kpole Anyunluhole Avuwia' (Bomoakpole Development Feast) was celebrated by the Chief, elders, and residents of Bomoakpole, with a call to the government to prioritize developmental projects for the town. The event, marking the beginning of what is intended to be an annual tradition, highlighted the community's desire for infrastructural improvements and better living conditions.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Chief of Bomoakpole, Nana Minla Kpanyinli III, emphasized in an interview that the farming community in the Ellembelle District has not experienced significant development in recent years. The community's leadership used the occasion to bring attention to the pressing needs for potable water, improved road networks, and a health center, among other infrastructural requirements.

In a show of unity and celebration, residents clad in white anniversary T-shirts paraded through neighboring towns with brass band music and dance. This display was aimed at fostering a sense of community and calling on both local and international residents to contribute to the town's development.

Nana Minla Kpanyinli III identified several critical issues, including the absence of an asphalt overlay on the streets and the lack of a community center and a modern Chief's palace. He also highlighted the problem of unemployment, noting that despite the oil and gas explorations in the Nzema enclave, the youth of Bomoakpole have not benefitted significantly. This situation has led many young people to engage in small-scale mining, known locally as "galamsey."

The Chief recounted past social interventions during the Jerry John Rawlings administration, such as the town's connection to the national electricity grid in 1996 and the provision of a pipe-borne water project. He acknowledged the contributions of the current Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, who has supported the community with electricity meters, a new classroom block, a market shed, and a replacement of their outdated electricity transformer.

The 'B'Kpole Anyunluhole Avuwia' feast seeks to create a platform for dialogue and concerted efforts towards addressing these challenges, ensuring the town's progress and the well-being of its residents.
