DORMAA-AHENKRO: Mr Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, the Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Decentralisation, has officially inaugurated a state-of-the-art bus terminal in Dormaa-Ahenkro, located in the Bono Region. The terminal, constructed at a cost of GHS5,222,229.15, is a significant development under the Ghana Secondary City Support Project (GSCSP), which is funded by the World Bank.According to Ghana News Agency, the newly constructed facility boasts numerous amenities designed to enhance the commuting experience. These include a police post, ambulance services, a fire station, standard male and female washrooms, offices, lockable stores, streetlights, a waiting room, and a mechanised borehole. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr Korsah expressed the government's optimism that this new terminal would significantly boost the socio-economic growth and development of the Dormaa-Ahenkro Municipality and its surrounding areas.Mr Korsah announced that the second phase of the GSCSP would s oon commence in the municipality, highlighting the government's commitment to enhancing infrastructure across the nation. He urged the electorate to support and retain the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in power, emphasizing the party's dedication to continuing and completing infrastructure projects under the leadership of Vice President Bawumia.In his welcoming address, Mr Drissa Quattara, the Dormaa Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), shared updates on other ongoing projects within the municipality. He noted that the upgrade of the Dormaa-Ahenkro Tuesday market into a standard market complex under the GSCSP was progressing steadily. Additionally, plans are underway for the installation of modern traffic lights, as well as the construction of pavements and pedestrian walkways in the Dormaa-Ahenkro Township.Following the inauguration of the lorry terminal, the Sector Minister also opened a standard market at Berekun in the Berekum East Municipality, another initiative under the GSCSP. This facility includes a pol ice post, 10-seater toilet facilities, a lorry park, a toll booth, a ticketing room, a health post, and a fire post, further underscoring the government's commitment to infrastructure development.
