Takoradi: The government has appointed Mr Kweku Kum, a former Information Systems and Quality Manager at the Ghana Rubber Estate Limited (GREL), as a member of the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA) Board. Mr Kum, who is also the Board Chairman for the Kings Group of Companies in Takoradi, will represent the Association of Self-Finance Outgrowers (ASFRO) on the TCDA Board.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Kum expressed his commitment to supporting the TCDA in its mission to enhance the tree crop sector in Ghana. He highlighted that his prior experience at GREL equips him to contribute effectively to the TCDA's initiatives aimed at promoting economic development within the sector.
The TCDA was established by an Act of Parliament in 2019 with the responsibility to regulate and develop the production, processing, and trading of six tree crops in Ghana: cashew, shea, mango, coconut, rubber, and oil palm. The Authority's mandate includes providing technical advice to farmers, processors, and traders, as well as conducting research and development to improve productivity and competitiveness in the sector.
