Millennium Class Lawyers Commemorate 25 Years with Jumu’ah Prayer

Accra: The Millennium Class of 2000 from the Ghana School of Law gathered at the National Central Mosque in Accra for Jumu'ah prayers as part of their Silver Jubilee celebration. This prayer session marked a significant moment of gratitude and reflection for the lawyers, celebrating a quarter-century since their induction into the legal profession and acknowledging the various faiths represented among them.

According to Ghana News Agency, the occasion was preceded by a visit to the Office of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu, who offered prayers for the Millennium Class. He encouraged them to continue serving as exemplary figures in the legal field. The anniversary celebration is themed 'Redefining Legal Education for Enhanced Democracy for the Next Generation,' reflecting the group's commitment to shaping the future of legal education and democracy.

Members of this distinguished group, who hold key positions in the nation's judiciary and government, include Justice Ernest Gaewu of the Supreme Court, Justice Oppong Twumasi and Justice Ken Kudjordzi of the High Court, as well as politicians Mr. Alhaji Inusah Fuseini and Alhaji Ben Abdallah Banda. These individuals represent the far-reaching influence and success of the Millennium Class.

Mr. Isaac Acheampong, Chairperson of the Anniversary Planning Committee, emphasized the importance of commemorating the Silver Jubilee, noting that each milestone is significant, especially given the potential challenges over such an extended period. He highlighted the decision to incorporate Jumu'ah prayer and a forthcoming Thanksgiving Service, showcasing the class's diversity and mutual resolve to express gratitude for their achievements.

The class has also initiated mentorship programs, offering career guidance and counseling to younger students. This multifaceted strategy aims to mentor students from the ground up, advocate for necessary changes, and ultimately reform the legal human resource structure comprehensively.
