Accra: Madam Jane Amerley Oku, the Chief Executive Officer of the Janok Foundation, has called on the public to pay attention to front-of-pack food labels to make informed choices and prevent diseases. She emphasized the significance of understanding nutritional information to guide parents and individuals in making healthier food decisions.
According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Oku shared this advice during a community engagement event organized by Our Community Focus (OCOF) in collaboration with the Global Dignity Forum. She highlighted that the front-of-pack warning label is a required policy for producers of canned and packaged foods, urging citizens to be aware of ingredient levels such as sugar, salt, and oil to avoid health issues.
Madam Oku pointed out that non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are on the rise, causing numerous deaths due to lifestyle choices. She stressed the importance of being conscious of one's consumption to prevent these diseases.
