Make the Principle of Integrity a Key Feature in Life – Bishop

Accra: Bishop Dr. Benjamin Badu, the General Overseer of the Prayer Chapel International in Bubuashie, Accra, has called upon society to prioritize the principle of integrity in daily life. He emphasized that for society and the nation to progress, fostering a culture of integrity is essential.

According to Ghana News Agency, Bishop Dr. Badu defined integrity as the quality of being honest and consistently adhering to strong moral and ethical values. He shared these insights during an interview at the conclusion of a three-day convention themed 'Integrity Convention.' The event aimed to address the apparent lack of integrity in various sectors, including political leadership, civil society, the church, and the public sector.

Bishop Badu observed that many individuals ascend to leadership and public positions without integrity as a core value. He initiated the convention to help the church understand the consequences and benefits of integrity, with a view to fostering societal change. He noted that integrity is often perceived as a foreign concept, which some people resist as if it limits their freedom.

He argued that integrity must be intentionally cultivated, as it is not an inherent trait. In instances where individuals fail to adhere to integrity, he suggested that law enforcement should ensure adherence to ethical practices. Bishop Badu highlighted attributes of integrity, including being ethical, committed, honest, and dependable.

He cited Proverbs 11:3, which states, "a just man will be guided by his own integrity, but a person will be destroyed by their own perversion," to underline the importance of integrity. He stressed that God engages with individuals who walk in integrity, equating it to holiness in all aspects of life.

Bishop Badu asserted that integrity requires adherence to its principles, even when it conflicts with personal interest and comfort. He warned that a lack of integrity can hinder societal and national stability and progress, referencing Galatians 6:7,8, which states, "be not deceived for God is not mocked, whatever a man soweth, that shall he reap."

He called on the church and educational stakeholders to advocate for the inclusion of integrity principles in educational curricula to instigate a paradigm shift among young learners.
