Mahama Commended on Support Fund for Helicopter Victims’ Families

Keta: Some residents in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region have expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for establishing a support fund to aid the families of the victims of the August 6, 2025, helicopter crash. The fund aims to provide comprehensive support to the children of the victims, ensuring their education from primary school through tertiary or technical training, healthcare, and welfare support.

According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Stella Dzimedi, a resident of Tetevikope, a suburb of Keta, mentioned that the support fund was designed to ensure that the children of the victims receive the necessary support to continue their education and live stable lives. She noted that the fund would cover medical insurance, specialized care when needed, and essential living expenses such as clothing, shelter, and food for the victims' families.

Stanbic Bank has partnered with President Mahama's initiative, contributing an initial GH?500,000 to the fund. This gesture has been described as a commitment to giving back to the community and supporting vulnerable individuals. Mr. Kwame Tsey, another resident, shared that President Mahama has assured that his office would ensure the fund's sustainability for the long term, with annual public reporting on its utilization.

The president also pledged to create channels for contributions from citizens, corporate organizations, professional associations, and international partners. The support fund is expected to significantly impact the communities, particularly where the victims' families reside, providing financial relief and ensuring the children receive the necessary support to achieve their full potential.
