Kumasi: Mr. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, Chief Executive Officer of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), has pledged his commitment to bring transformation and progress to Kumasi. He aims to conduct the Assembly's functions with excellence, dedication, and a results-driven approach.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Boadi emphasized his focus on key issues, including security, governance, finance, revenue, environmental sanitation, disaster management, and quality health services. He noted that the Kumasi Metropolis has experienced significant peace and security under his leadership, attributed to increased police patrols with the assistance of other security services.
Mr. Boadi addressed the ongoing disregard for traffic regulations in the metropolis, a habit among many vehicle users. The Assembly is tackling this issue to ensure smooth vehicular movement and pedestrian safety. Additionally, he mentioned plans to enact bye-laws requiring traders to install smoke detectors in their shops, promoting fire safety in markets and business areas. This requirement would be a precondition for trading in the business center.
The CEO highlighted efforts to strengthen public engagement and enhance the Assembly's visibility across both traditional and digital media platforms. He stated, "We have become more visible, more responsive, and more proactive in our communication." He also promised to rebrand the Assembly and develop its various units using digital communication and the KMA newsletter.
Mr. Boadi indicated that the Assembly's legal department has been tasked with monitoring all contracts. On sanitation and waste management, he emphasized promoting sustainable, environmentally sound, and cost-effective waste management practices. The Assembly has engaged stakeholders to address these issues sustainably, focusing particularly on the central business district to ensure a clean environment.
