Juaben: The Juaben Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organised a town hall meeting with a women’s group to promote citizens’ participation in strengthening the rule of law and combating corruption in Ghana.

According to Ghana News Agency, the meeting was organised with support from the European Union (EU) and the German Development Cooperation (GIZ). It was attended by women leaders from various communities, market associations, churches, and civil society groups across the Municipality.

The engagement formed part of NCCE’s nationwide efforts to deepen civic education and empower women as key stakeholders in the fight against corruption. Mr. Kodjo Adjormadoh, the Municipal Director of NCCE, emphasised that the rule of law was the foundation of peace, justice, and national development. He encouraged participants to model integrity within their families and communities, saying, “Women have the power to shape values and attitudes in society.”

Mrs. Bertha Zaazie, the Municipal Director for the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, highlighted how corruption undermined social services and called for collective efforts to promote transparency and accountability. Participants actively engaged in discussions, sharing experiences and proposing community-based strategies such as civic education at market centres, promoting moral values among children, and refusing to pay or receive bribes.

The participants pledged their commitment to become ambassadors of integrity within their communities by educating others on the importance of obeying laws, reporting corruption, and supporting national anti-corruption initiatives. The NCCE expressed appreciation to the EU and GIZ for their continuous support in building a culture of integrity, accountability, and civic responsibility.
