Joyce Aryee Urges Christians to Demonstrate Faith Through Action

Accra: The Reverend Dr Joyce Rosalind Aryee, Executive Director of Salt and Light Ministries, has called upon Christians to transcend verbal declarations of faith and demonstrate their beliefs through tangible actions that reflect the power and love of Christ. She asserted that true Christian unity and influence are only evident when believers embody Christ’s values in their daily lives.

According to Ghana News Agency, Rev Dr Aryee made these remarks at the Council’s 96th Anniversary Breakfast Meeting in Accra, themed ‘CCG at 96: Reflections, Achievements, Setbacks, and the Way Forward.’ The event, which included clergy, state officials, business leaders, and members of the Christian community, featured prayers, worship, and discussions on the Council’s achievements and future directions.

Dr Aryee emphasized that the Christian Council’s 96th anniversary should be seen as a renewal of its mission to reveal ‘the power of Christ in this country’ through its members’ lives. She stressed the importance of the Council’s autonomy, urging members to rely on divine provision rather than external donors.

Rev Dr Aryee also called on the Council to support national leadership through prayer, particularly encouraging the President to make bold decisions to curb illegal mining and restore the nation’s natural resources. She highlighted the challenges posed by rapid technological advances, cautioning about their potential spiritual and moral implications.

In her speech, Dr Aryee proposed the creation of a booklet outlining Jesus’ commands to aid believers in living by them. She quoted Matthew 5:13-16, reminding Christians of their role as ‘the salt and light of Ghana,’ tasked with preserving righteousness and countering societal darkness.

The Reverend Enoch Thompson, Vice Chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana, recounted the Council’s history and its significant impact on national development since its establishment on October 30, 1929. Founded by five historic mission churches, the Council has played a crucial role in education, healthcare, and social advocacy, notably through the Christian Health Association of Ghana.

Rev Thompson announced the Council’s plans to hold its first National Ecumenical Convention from November 14 to 16, 2025, at the University of Ghana, as part of its centennial celebration preparations. This event aims to unite churches nationwide and renew their commitment to God.

Reaffirming the Council’s mission, Rev Thompson expressed hope that it would continue to serve as a beacon of unity, peace, faith, and moral integrity for future generations.
