Accra: The India High Commission in Ghana has held this year’s ‘India Fest,’ to showcase its heritage and cultural values. The festival, which was held at the Accra Sports Stadium, brought together hundreds of participants and patrons from the Indian community in Ghana, as well as non-Indian citizens.
According to Ghana News Agency, the festival aimed at giving a deeper appreciation for India’s heritage to both Indians and non-Indians alike. It is one of the most anticipated cultural events on the Indian calendar and sought to create cherished memories for the participants. The event commenced with a captivating dance performance, setting a festive tone for the evening’s activities. It featured some Ghanaian artists, including the IndiGha Band, who entertained the crowd with a fusion of Indian and Ghanaian rhythms and dance performances.
The festival offered a variety of performances by Indian community associations, featuring traditional music and theatrical displays that highlighted the diversity of India
‘s cultural heritage. It also provided an avenue for businesses to showcase their services and products. Additionally, the festival included a glimpse into India’s artistic legacy, showcasing an array of artifacts, sculptures, paintings, traditional attire, jewelry, and an authentic Indian cuisine experience ranging from spicy street food to mouth-watering sweets.
In his remarks, Mr. Manish Gupta, the India High Commissioner to Ghana, welcomed the participants and noted that the event coincided with the Diwali festival, which symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance. He emphasized that the High Commission would ensure that India Fest remained a cherished and celebrated event in Accra’s cultural calendar and encouraged the Indian community to maintain a close bond to preserve their cultural heritage and values.
