Humanitarian Organizations Urged to Bolster Resources Amid Aid Suspension

Kumasi: Humanitarian organizations have been advised to strengthen their resources to address the pressing challenges of the vulnerable in society. Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, emphasized this need during a recent event.

According to Ghana News Agency, Prof Addai-Mensah highlighted that the suspension of numerous aid budgets, initiatives, and programs by countries such as the USA poses significant challenges for countries reliant on healthcare, educational, and economic assistance from the United States and other European nations. Addressing this issue at the Charter Presentation and Fundraising Dinner of the Kumasi-4 Garrison Rotary Club, he called on charitable organizations to reinforce their efforts to tackle these global challenges.

Prof Addai-Mensah underscored the importance of institutions like Rotary, describing them as a beacon of hope. He emphasized Rotary's vision of uniting people to create lasting change and stressed the necessity of establishing and strengthening Rotary Clubs in Ghana and across Africa to support vulnerable communities.

He further stated that philanthropy and goodwill, through acts such as medical supply donations or sponsoring a child's education, can significantly improve the fortunes of families. As a new charter member, he pledged his support to the club's initiatives and commended Rotary for its steadfast commitment to humanity.

Ms Florence Maame Hagen, Rotary District Governor, encouraged new club members to engage with fellow clubs and Rotarians. She urged them to leverage available resources and pursue sustainable, impactful projects that make a real difference in people's lives. She also advised them to embrace growth, remain curious, continue learning, and seek innovative ways to keep the club vibrant and responsive to community challenges.

Mr Augustines Nkrumah Boateng, Charter President of the Rotary Club of Kumasi-4 Garrison, expressed the club's eagerness to serve communities, promote peace, and foster understanding. The event also served as a fundraising effort to donate computers and accessories to Mansoman Senior High School and to fund the roofing of the Ntinanko M/A Primary and JHS.
