Ghana and International Partners Pledge to Enhance Sustainable Agribusiness Growth

Accra: The seventh edition of the Agrofood and Plastprintpack Ghana exhibition and conference concluded in Accra with Ghana and its international partners committing to enhance collaboration in sustainable agribusiness, food processing, and green industrial development. The event, held from October 28 to 30 at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre, brought together over 78 exhibitors from 15 countries to present innovations in food processing, packaging, plastics, printing, and agribusiness technology.



According to Ghana News Agency, the exhibition was organized by Fairtrade and ACE Group in partnership with Geovision, featuring national pavilions from the Netherlands, South Africa, and the newly introduced International Trade Centre Pavilion, which included exhibitors from Ghana, C´te d’Ivoire, and Nigeria. The event aimed to foster regional partnerships and promote ‘South-South cooperation in action.’



Jeroen Verheul, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Ghana, highlighted the increasing participation of Dutch companies, reflecting a robust partnership with Ghana in horticulture and agribusiness. He noted the expansion of the Dutch Pavilion, which doubled in size since the last edition, with 15 companies showcasing innovations in sustainable agriculture, seed technology, and irrigation. Verheul announced the launch of the Dutch Seed Partnership, a new initiative to enhance productivity, innovation, and sustainability in Ghana’s seed sector.



German Ambassador Frederik Landsh¶ft praised Ghana’s leadership in sustainable growth, describing the fair as a platform for technology and collaboration. He emphasized the fair’s role in shaping the future of business in Ghana and noted that food and beverage investments in Ghana had increased by 35 percent since 2017. Landsh¶ft added that Germany would continue to support Ghana’s climate resilience and renewable energy initiatives.



The event, which built on a successful 2023 edition featuring 63 exhibitors from 15 countries, was seen as a key milestone in sub-Saharan Africa’s agro-industrial journey. Fairtrade CEO Paul Marz expressed satisfaction with the international presence at the fair, highlighting the evolving relevance of the event as a hub for innovation and business exchange in West Africa. He cited significant trade figures that demonstrated Ghana’s dynamic agri-food sector and its growing role in global trade.
